Everyone at CLC is invited to participate in our 2010 Spiritual Life Covenant, which includes:

Private Devotions for 4 days a week.

Read through the Bible during 2010.

Participate in at least one small group Bible Study, such as a Sunday morning Bible Fellowship.

Practice Fasting and Prayer for 1 meal a week.

I continue to recommend the Discipleship Journal One-Year Plan, which we have adapted for our congregation. This Bible Reading Plan offers special features that will aid you in you journey through the Bible:

By reading from four separate places in the Scripture every day you should be able to better grasp the unity of the Scriptures, as well as enjoy the variety of seeing four different viewpoints.

You can begin at any point of the year

To prevent the frustration of falling behind, which most of us tend to do when following a Bible reading plan, each month of this plan gives you only 25 readings. Since you'll have several "free days" each month, you could set aside Sunday to either not read at all or to catch up on any readings you may have missed in the past week.

If you finish the month's readings by the 25th, you could use the final days of the month to study passages that challenged or intrigued you.

If reading through the entire Bible in one year looms as too large a task, you can alter the plan to meet your needs. For example, you could read the gospels and the wisdom books this year, and the other two categories next year.

In the year ahead, ask God each day to speak directly to you from the Scripture portions you read. Be expectant, and let your continual exposure to God's Word reshape your attitudes and behavior as you gain a better understanding of every part of His written testimony to us.

In addition, bookmarks have been created to aid you in your commitment to read through the Bible each year. Each day you'll read from four sections of Scripture, so four sets of bookmarks have been created to help you. You may download your own bookmark and print it for yourself or pick one up in the church foyer.

Imagine Yourself Debt Free

Christian Life Center is hosting Dave Ramsey’s Financial Peace University. Luke is, perhaps, the most prolific historian of the New Testament. Both serve as a well-versed and thorough witness for a Roman friend, named Theophilus.
Luke captures 3 dimensions of Jesus’ life and ministry to persuade others to follow Christ.

His Eternal Character

His Historical Reality

His Present Activity

Zechariah's Moment

Watch Video | Listen to Audio

Luke 1.5-25

The story begins in the Temple, the Holy of Holies, where a priest named Zechariah had been called upon to minister. The temple priesthood was organized into 24 divisions, with each division serving twice a year. Zechariah had received the honor. Because of the large number of priests, most would never be chosen for such a duty, and no one was permitted to serve in this capacity twice. Zechariah no doubt regarded this as the supreme moment in a lifetime of priestly service. The incense was kept burning perpetually, just in front of the veil that divided the holy place from the most holy place. The lone priest would offer the incense every morning and every evening, while the rest of the priests and worshipers stood outside the holy place in prayer.
Zechariah dutifully ministered, but he stood there in bittersweet emotion. Let me set the table for you so James 5 can be as tasty and as satisfying nourishment for our souls as it needs to be.
The body of Christ becomes the place, where the realities of suffering and disease and wounds collide with the loving compassion of Christ and His provision for healing.
There are three kinds of healing prayer - 3 kinds of asking anything in His Name - that take place in James 5, which the Bible instructs us to keep alive in Christian Life Center. All three of them are ways of praying for people who are sick or suffering in some way. You can’t use this text to say there is just one biblical way to pray for the sick. There is a great deal of flexibility possible here. These include...

Healing Prayer for Your Personal Needs (v. 13)

Healing Prayer embodied in a Shepherd’s Faith (vv. 14-15)

Healing Prayer through Other Believers (vv. 16-18)

What are the implications? It means that preaching and teaching and our speaking to one another in encouragement for the upbuilding of the body should both affirm and practice praying for healing. It means that the Pastor must lead the way in bold, audacious faith by praying for the sick and preparing addition ministry elders, both spiritually and practically, to regularly receive the needs of the broken, the suffering, and the hurting to expectantly pray in faith for the gifts of healing.
But ultimately, it means that we sustain an open invitation for the sick to receive healing prayer from people of faith.

The Healing part 8

<a href="http://www.christianlifeag.net/Media/Healing8.mov"rel="mediabox[700 400]" title="play">Watch Video | Listen to Audio

*The video is mislabled as “The Healing, part 6" on the screen, but it is “part 8."

Acts 3.1-18

Peter and John approached the Temple gates to continue praying. At this early point in the history of the church, the Jewish Christians were still praying in the temple. The ninth hour was about 3:00 P.M. The courts were filling with people, who pressed through the gates of the temple.
This was a clever place to beg, since people on their way to worship were less likely to ignore him. Even so, in such a busy place, the request for money must have become something of an empty repetition. Imagine the endless pleas for pity and money. I imagine a man who has become numb to rejection. He hears it enough.
Luke uses medical terminology to describe a man who was cripple from birth. The word translated “feet" is used only by Luke (Physician), and it’s found nowhere else in all of scripture but here! It is a medical term, which refers to the “base" or “heel" of the foot. Base could also mean that his ankle was deformed and unable to bear any weight. He was unable to stand, to walk. Imagine the throes of people walking into the temple, while he is left unable to lift himself to his feet to do the same.
Yet, this becomes a place for a divine moment, not because it was at the Jewish Temple, but because Peter and John saw life differently now. They were filled with the Holy Spirit. They had heard the words of Jesus and seen His miracles. They knew the Risen Christ. Common places became extraordinary scenes for the miraculous to take place.

The Healing part 7

<a href="http://www.christianlifeag.net/Media/Healing7.mov"rel="mediabox[700 400]" title="play">Watch Video | Listen to Audio

Mark 9.14-21

The seizures are sudden and come at random. He loses control and has many times been singed by the kitchen fire and the charcoal fires in the streets.
When the seizures abate, the boy is encircled by worried, scolding eyes. As he gets up, people back away. The other neighborhood children are afraid of him and are told by their parents to stay clear.
His life has been isolated and picked clean of the treasures of friendship and boyhood by a force they cannot see. A cruel spirit lies in wait to torment him like the schoolyard bully, who hides around the corner. It delights in the tyranny; the pushing, the shoving, the brutalizing. This is the way of demonic spirits of darkness. They prey upon the mind and want increasing control of person’s life.
The next day brings the news of Jesus’ disciples convening in their town. During His earthly life and ministry, He honored the 7th day as a day of worship and took care to demonstrate its original beneficent purpose. After His resurrection, the day of worship began to be observed on the first day of the week. God’s principle of a Sabbath remains for us to apply.
God instituted Sabbath as a day of rest. He declared it to be a day of special blessing for His people and a sacred day to worship Him. In these “rings" of our thoughts and emotions, the memories are recorded and alive. They deeply affect how we look at life, at others, at ourselves. Most tend to cope with it. Endure it. Survive it. Other’s feel more directly the crushing weight of those burdens of past experiences. Relationships have failed because those events left people broken and hurting and unhealthy.
Healing of the Spirit provides both renewal and restoration of one’s spiritual life in relationship with God. The first and deepest kind of spiritual healing happens in God forgiving our sins, which Christ provided at the cross and that we receive through faith and repentance. Salvation through forgiveness results in the healing of our spirit. The ongoing experience of His forgiveness releases spiritual health.
Another kind of healing for our spirit happens when we give forgiveness. Just as receiving forgiveness releases healing to our spirits, giving forgiveness can release healing to us emotionally, spiritually, and personally.

The Healing part 4

<a href="http://www.christianlifeag.net/Media/Healing4.mov"rel="mediabox[700 400]" title="The Healing, part 4">Watch Video | Listen to Audio

Luke 7:35-40

Closely associated with the promise of healing for our bodies is the healing of our infirmities. I would even go so far as to say the healing is probably the best one-word definition for His mission that we could use. Many often think of healing only in relation to physical sickness, but Biblical Healing never isolates its meaning to only the physical body. Rather, when referring to Healing, we need to think of it as God’s life-giving power for the total person; body, mind, spirit, conscience, and soul.
In the New Testament, healing encompasses the forgiveness for Sin and restoration from physical suffering. Forgiveness of sin brings release and healing to all dimensions of life affected by sin; the spirit, the conscience, the mind, the body. And it extends into all of life: a person’s relationships, life’s purpose, and more.

The Healing part 2

<a href="http://www.christianlifeag.net/Media/Healing2.mov"rel="mediabox[700 400]" title="The Healing, part 2">Watch Video | Listen to Audio

Malachi 4.1-2, Luke 5.15-25

People often think of healing only in relation to physical sickness, but Biblical Healing never isolates its meaning to only the physical body.
